Rudolf Stingel – Palazzo Grassi, Venezia
“Wow!” That’s what you think during the first minute you spend inside the walls of Palazzo Grassi. A completely new palace, with Rudolf Stingel’s works literally all over its surface. It’s overwhelming to see the majestic Palazzo entirely covered with an oriental pattered carpet: a 7,500 square-meter surface that appears masked and unsettled. You keep on walking up the floors of the Palace and you finally realize that there’s even more! Beautiful oils on canvas, with their dark colors, strike against the plain red/white/black of the carpet. Arriving at the third floor, the carpet has finally stopped to impress you, and you can start enjoying the amazing canvasses with medieval Madonnas that throw you back in time.
