Rob Sherwood – How much does the earth weigh?
Stable and free, these are the two terms in between which Rob Sherwood’s painting moves. “How much does the earth weigh?” at Federica Schiavo Gallery in Rome is an arrival, and a prelude to a possible new start for this talented young painter.
Investigating the limits of creativity within a given rule – in this case a grid divided into 1.5 by 1.5 cm squares – the artist finds a way to collapse all criteria of art with his own personal research. By breaking the grid, he creates entries for light; his panels are pure movement inspired by the digital world. His language contains both past and future: look at his light works and get amazed.
