My work is driven by the history and future of a place alongside how we interact, inform or interrupt it with our bodies.

Earlier this year I worked with bread baker Martha Brown from Forge Bakehouse in Sheffield and choreographer Lucy Suggate to develop Fold and Stretch, a performance inspired by the choreography of making bread. I am interested in the ‘liveness’ of dough as a biological material containing yeast and bacteria. It is never static, but consistently growing and morphing.

Alongside this, I am drawn to how the hands and body intuitively manipulate the dough to make an object, which is human scale. I see this process as a counterpoint to the increasing pace, mechanical production and technologies used today.
