I grandi grigi. Bologna’s painting school at CAR drde

“I grandi grigi” (The great greys) at CAR drde shows the work of four contemporary artists who shared a common past in the city of Bologna, Italy. The exhibition tries to shape a possible common denominator for these experiences. The exhibited oil paintings show a shared color temperature and a predilection for metaphysical atmospheres and sceneries. Paolo Chiasera’s Exhibition Paintings portray potential exhibitions of real artworks, staged in real spaces, for which the artist becomes curator and sets the theme. Pierpaolo Campanini and Piero Manai’s pieces both deal with sculptural, simply-shaped, mysterious objects. Cuoghi Corsello’s paintings are taken from photographs they took in spaces they occupied and lived in, as it was usual in their artistic production and pratice, an intersection of art and life.
