A Walk Through The Art. Arte Fiera 2014

Arte Fiera 2014 was held at BolognaFiere on January 24-27, 2014. The 38th edition of the Arte Fiera art fair brought together 172 galleries, a 27% increase on last year’s edition. The galleries were divided into 5 sections. Of the 120 modern and contemporary art galleries – of which around 10 devoted to late 19th-century art – 20 specialized in photography, 10 had a focus on Eastern Europe, 15 presented Solo Shows, and 7 were New Proposals, dedicated to young artists. Additional exhibitors included more than 30 publishing houses, bookshops specializing in art, and museums.

Like every year, Art City was part of Arte Fiera’s program, a series of exhibitions and institutional initiatives held in museums and public spaces around the city of Bologna – including the exhibition Il Piedistallo vuoto – The Empty Pedestal. Ghosts from Eastern Europe, curated by Marco Scotini, dedicated to Eastern European artists, and made possible through the coordination of many Italian private collectors.
All shows stayed open to the public for Art City White Night on Saturday, January 25. Many galleries throughout the city hosted events and welcomed the public until midnight.
Another art fair took place in Bologna on the same days as Arte Fiera: SetUp – an independent art fair devoted to emerging artists.

Here’s a photographic walk-through of Arte Fiera 2014, Art City White Night, and SetUp independent art fair, with artworks and exhibition views from the most interesting contemporary art galleries:
