Riccardo Benassi – Techno Casa at Marsèlleria, Milan

Techno Casa is what Benassi’s stream of consciousness looks like. Marsèlleria embodies the artist, starting from the outfitting to the structure: the introducing video as his shaking hand, the first floor as both the head and the core of his own thoughts. The dialogue/soliloquy is not linear as it appears running along the bottom of the screens – like TV banners with news reports: Benassi examines the relation between new technologies, architecture, contemporary time and space, meditating on the matter Lucy Lippard wrote about in 1997. 3D graphics and electronic music are an addition that makes the difference between a paper and the visual artwork: Benassi delivers a sort of lecture, mixing media to explain the concept which is flowing in his own mind. Once inside this site-specific installation, everything spins and all you can do is dance.
