Centrale Fotografia – Fifth Edition. Focus on Publishing
Photography and contemporary art festival Centrale Fotografia opened last weekend with a series of exhibitions and artist talks curated by Luca Panaro and Marcello Sparaventi. The focus of this year’s festival is on art publishing. Now at its fifth edition, the event takes place inside the court and cells of fifteenth-century Rocca Malatestiana in Fano, Italy, until June 30, 2013.
This year’s guests of honor were Andrea Galvani and Paola De Pietri, who showed their work to the public in conversation with curator Luca Panaro during the festival’s opening weekend. 4 publishers (Editrice Quinlan, Danilo Montanari Editore, blisterZine, Vênus et Milö) were invited to host 4 solo exhibitions inside the Rocca’s ancient cells – photography projects by Jacopo Benassi, Giuseppe De Mattia, NASTYNASTY©, Matilde Soligno, along with their newly-published artist books and more artists publications.
Droste Effect magazine was presented to the public during the festival’s opening weekend. We also took part in a talk with curator Luca Panaro and the other art publishers to discuss about the challenges of publishing today, from the point of view of newborn projects as well as more established realities.
