México Inside Out at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth
Inside Out includes sixty works by twenty-three artists, including Teresa Margolles, Gabriel Orozco, Francis Alÿs, Damián Ortega, Melanie Smith, and Naomi Rincón-Gallardo. These artists, some native-born, others like Alÿs who migrated there, cover contemporary issues in Mexico: globalization, borders, the changing role of economic and civic institutions, urban planning, and the growing gulf between wealth and poverty. Inside Out is a timely and provocative show which explores local issues within a global context, and reminds us of Mexico’s long history of political and outsider art and of welcoming international artists.
