Giorgio Casali, Photographer, Domus 1951-1983

This week is the last chance to discover or re-discover the photographic work of Giorgio Casali at the Estorick Collection. What separates art and design? The debate is still convoluted and the curators of this exhibition, Angelo Maggi and Italo Zannier, took it a step further by highlighting the artistic value of Casali’s commercial photographs of architecture and design. A tour de force as one leaves the exhibition convinced that while he was working for over 3 decades at Domus, Gio Ponti’s famous magazine, he did create artworks in their own right.
