The NEW SEASON OF ART SHOWS that begun after Labor Day brought new and renewed art to New York’s galleries and museums. Whilst some showcased fresh work by contemporary, edgy artists, others chose to rediscover older art currents through new curatorial paths.

JUST OPENED: JIM SHAW AT THE NEW MUSEUM through January 10, 2016
“The End Is Here” is Jim Shaw’s first comprehensive museum show in New York, which encompasses three floors of the New Museum. Through painting, sculpture, and drawing, Shaw interconnected underground and proto-punk culture from the early stages of his career to America’s cultural history, inherently pop. Collector of objet trouves that then get merged into his own artistic practice, he becomes curator of giant displays of obscure religious iconography as well as of found amateur paintings.
The exhibition is curated by Massimiliano Gioni, Artistic Director of the New Museum, and Gary Carrion-Murayari, Kraus Family Curator, with Margot Norton, Associate Curator.
