Ludovica Gioscia – Vermilion Glow Bleeds Rust at Galleria Riccardo Crespi
Lipsticks, pigments, Pac-Man, plastics, Facebook, resin, and polyester may make you think about a senseless mix of materials, but what if I tell you that’s the objectification of both Ludovica Gioscia’s curiosity about social behavior in a consumer world and her passion for cosmetics, packagings, and the many subcultures phenomena we observed in these last decades. Worktables become a triptych right next to the irregular shapes of those mixes, inviting you to become an archeologist, and metaphorically dig up, extract and recognize the objects that got stuck in. Apart from the rhetoric of recycling and pop archeology, the artist’s dialog with the gallery space is really interesting: the “Wallpaper” of Vermilion Glow Bleeds Rust doesn’t just interact with the room where it’s placed, it makes the many images on the wallpaper attractive to you, and to your advertising art director friend, too.
