Our current exhibition by Larissa Sansour uses a futuristic scenario to explore issues in contemporary Israel/Palestine. We thought it would be interesting to hear about how other artists and writers are using dystopian visions to critique and disrupt. Amal Khalaf will be our host for the evening, she curated a series of talks on the theme The Future Was at this year’s Global Art Forum in Dubai, which is where The Mosaic Rooms met her. She will be talking with writer Sophia Al-Maria (Qatar/UK) and artist Sarah Abu Abdallah (Saudi Arabia). They’ll discuss how they use concepts of the future in their practice, reading texts and narratives that have inspired them, followed by a collective discussion with the audience.
